Gryffindor is one of the four houses of Hogwarts. Gryffindor is supposed to be home to the "daring and chivalrous".
Before Harry Potter's arrival, Gryffindor House had not won Quidditch since Charlie Weasley was their captain, nor had they won the house cup for several years.
