"Nip" was a runner/spy for the Harper Hall. His real name is not certain. In Chapter 19 of The MasterHarper of Pern, Robinton calls him "Journeyman Kinsale", but that may well be an alias. He served Gennel and later Robinton, and later took on an assistant/apprentice, "Tuck".
