Red Hanrahan was the father of Sorka Connel and the founder of Ruatha Hold. He was one of the colony's veterinarians in the early days of colonization, and founded Ruatha's tradition of horse raising (or "runningbeasts" as they came to be called in later days).
He is presumably the ancestor of Lessa. He and Mairi had many children, two before Landing (Sorka and Brian), and several after Landing.
