Taren Ferry is a town on the north edge of the Two Rivers, on the south bank of the Taren River. The North Road runs south to Watch Hill. Many houses in the town are built on high redstone foundations, in case of spring floods. Other denizens of the Two Rivers tend to regard them as a little bit strange, and they have a reputation for slyness and trickery, not entirely unearned.

The ferry proper crosses from a landing on the south side of the river. Guide-ropes cross the river, attached to poles on each bank, to keep the ferry from being washed downstream as it crosses.
