Telepathy is direct thought to thought communication by means other than the known senses. That telepaths will take power is a sci-fi trope, often supplemented by efforts by a telepathic majority to control or eliminate telepaths. In PKD's novel Our Friends from Frolox 8, the non-telepaths are "Old Men' and telepaths are "Unusuals".
